SUMMARY:SeaNaps presents: The Moving Archive
DESCRIPTION:OSWALDO LARES - MUSICA DE VENEZUELA 1969-today\nVideo lecture w
ith Guillermo Lares (architect and sound researcher\, ArchivO Lares) and S
tefan Schneider (musician and producer\, TAL)\n\nAn amateur archivist in t
he literal sense of the word: For the love of Venezuela’s music culture
Oswaldo Lares\, an architect by profession\, spent his free time in the ea
rly 1960s studying regional forms of music in the environs of Caracas and
the complex relationship to their different origins\, especially to the Af
 rican continent. With numerous field recordings\, photographs\, videos\, w
ritten notes and studies\, the self-taught Lares single-handedly created o
ne of the most comprehensive and systematic ethnographic collections in Ve
nezuela\, which is managed today by his son Guillermo. In conversation wit
h the musician and TAL label founder Stefan Schneider (also known as the b
assist of Kreidler and To Rococo Red)\, Guillermo Lares discusses how his
father’s archive can become a living musical memory of Venezuela\, a spa
ce for dialog and transcultural cooperation.\n\nIn English\, German\, Span
